Machine Learning Course

From Saturday, 06/14/2025 to Saturday, 08/02/2025, AI Academy will conduct a course in medical machine learning for middle and high school students.

The scientific research program is conducted like a mentorship program the way that university graduate schools do. While students in school learn the science we already know, professional scientists make new discoveries and share their findings by publishing in professional journals.  Our scientific research program teaches students how to do original research, then they conduct experiments and publish their findings in scientific journals. After the completion of the course, students will be able to develop their own machine learning projects and explore their interests to a greater height.

This summer, the medical machine learning class will focus on the the intersection of artificial intelligence and neuroscience, using deep learning techniques to support faster and more accurate brain tumor diagnosis through MRI image analysis.

Pre-requisites/Requirements: For both middle and high school participants, there is no prior programming experience required and new students are welcome to join. Students with CS knowledge will work primarily on the programming end, while those who do not will work on the research side.

  • This is a rare opportunity for middle and high schoolers not only to engage in a STEM project, but also to conduct research to advance a STEM field.

  • All participating students will have their names on the resulting publications. This accomplishment will allow middle school students to stand out on elite high school admission applications and will allow all students to have a distinguished accomplishment to put on college applications.

This will be a 8-week course that meets virtually through Google Meet each Saturday. Tuition is $150.00 for the program. The course will be led by instructors from the University of California, Berkeley within the Management, Entrepreneurship, and Technology (M.E.T) program and Duke University.
